Privacy Policy — Amazon Prime X-Ray Disabler

TL;DR

This extension does not collect, store, transmit or sell any personal data. No analytics, no tracking, no remote requests. Everything happens locally in your browser. The only thing it remembers is whether you toggled the X-Ray panel on or off — and even that stays inside your own Chrome profile.

What we collect

Personally identifiable information: Not collected.
Authentication credentials: Not collected.
Web history or browsing activity: Not collected.
Location, contacts, financial or health data: Not collected.
Analytics, telemetry or usage metrics: Not collected.

What we store (and where)

One single boolean preference — whether X-Ray is currently disabled — is saved through Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.sync API so the toggle survives browser restarts and follows you across devices signed in to the same Chrome profile. This data never leaves Google's sync infrastructure and is never sent to any server we operate.

Why each permission is requested

storage — Remembers whether you turned X-Ray off, so the choice persists across browser sessions.
scripting — Lets the toolbar popup inject the content script into Prime Video tabs that were already open before the extension was installed or updated, so you don't need to refresh.
tabs — Lets the popup find the active Prime Video tab to deliver the toggle message when you click the on/off button.
activeTab — Targets the currently focused Prime Video tab when you interact with the toolbar icon.
Host permissions (primevideo.com, amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.de) — Required so the content script can read and modify the X-Ray panel inside the Prime Video player. The extension only runs on these domains.

What we don't do

No remote code execution. All scripts ship inside the extension package.
No third-party analytics, ads or tracking pixels.
No selling, renting or transferring of user data — there is no user data to transfer.
No use of data for credit, lending or insurance scoring.
No background scraping of pages you visit.

The full source code is published on GitHub. You can audit every line, propose changes, or build the extension yourself.
